Karen Lynn Whiting

Karen Lynn Whiting, 69, of Chillicothe, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 4, 2026 at Hopewell Grove, following a brief battle with cancer.

She was born February 10, 1956 in Chillicothe, Ohio, daughter of the late George Whiting and Ruth (Newland) DeLong. She went on to meet her soulmate, Steven Spencer, who survives.

Also surviving are their two sons, Stephen (Lisa Sanford) Spencer, and Charles Wyatt (Mateka Bode) Spencer; beloved grandchildren, Jayden Spencer, Mateo Spencer, and Bailey Spencer; her siblings, Dianne (Grover) Temple, Mike (Renee) Whiting, and Gaila (Tom) Thompson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Hailey, and her brother, Ronald Whiting.

Karen was a proud graduate of Huntington High School. She went on to devote most of her life and career to Good Will Industries, where she was a beloved coworker and friend to many. Even though the loved her job and contributions to Good Will, she was most fond of one particular title she had gained: “Grandma”! Not only was she a grandma to four beloved grandchildren, but she was also known as Grandma to many in the community. She loved her family more than words can describe and was always there when needed. She will be greatly missed by all who had a chance to know her.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services. A celebration of life service is being planned and will be announced by the family in the coming weeks.
