Karen D. Thomas, of Bainbridge, Oh. passed away on Dec. 29, 2005 in the Adena Regional Medical Center Hospice Unit, following a lengthy illness. Karen was born Aug. 17th 1947. She graduated from Covington High School in 1965 and Grant Hospital School of Nursing in 1968. She was employed 37 years as a Registered Nurse, 30 of which were spent in the ICU unit at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Oh. She is survived by her mother, Pauline C. Thomas of Covington, Oh., one sister, Marsha K. Thomas of Covington, Oh, one brother, William M. Thomas of Knoxville, Tn. and sisters by choice Pamela T. Myers of Louisville, Ky. and Janie Grilliot of Troy, Oh. Also surviving are nephews William M. Thomas Jr. and family of Troy, Oh.; Benjamin H. Thomas and family of Louisville, Ky. and Lee H. Thomas of Covington, Oh. Her father, William H. Thomas preceeded her in death Feb 28, 1968. Karen left behind many beloved friends both from her neighborhood as well as her Adena Hospital family. Karen was an avid gardener and adored roses. She loved wildlife and adopted many stray cats and dogs into her family. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Karen has donated her body to the Ohio State University for medical research. She requested any donations be made to the Adena Health Foundation, Hospice Program, 272 Hospital Rd., Chillicothe, Oh 45601. There will be no memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Haller Funeral Home.
