Karen Proehl

Karen L. Proehl, 61, of Chillicothe, died at 2:03pm November 5, 2012, at her home following an extended illness. She was born October 2, 1951, in Chillicothe, to the late Elwin O., Sr. and Evelyn D. (Moore) McCollister. On May 29, 1971, she married Darrell R. Proehl, who survives. Also surviving is her daughter and son-in-law Gracie L. (Albert) Kaltenbach, Chillicothe; son and daughter-in-law Rickie A. (Heidi) Proehl, Richmond Dale; grandchildren: Kirsten Proehl, Tiffany Kaltenbach, Amanda Kaltenbach, Jacob Garman, Zach Proehl, and Goldie Proehl; a great-granddaughter Evelayna Proehl; sisters Maddy McCollister, Chillicothe; and Becky Nichols, Vinton Co.; and a brother Elwin McCollister, Jr., Chillicothe. She was predeceased by an uncle Ross McCollister; a niece Jillian Nichols; a nephew Nathan Nichols; and a brother-in-law Oakley Nichols. Karen was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1969. She retired from the VAMC where she worked as a nursing assistant. Funeral service will be held at 6:00pm Friday at Haller Funeral Home. Friends may call Friday from 4-6pm at Haller Funeral Home.
