Justine Schinkle

Justine C. (Klug) Schinkle, 95, of Chillicothe, died 11:04 am, Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Westmoreland Place Nursing Home, following an extended illness. She was born February 2, 1916 in Terre Haute, IN to Martin C. and Marie Hahn Klug. She was a 1934 graduate of St. Joseph Academy and graduated in 1937 from St. Anthony School of Nursing, with an RN degree. After graduation, Justine took the Civil Service Exam and was assigned to the VA Medical Center, Chillicothe, where she met her future husband, Austin H. Schinkle. They married on June 8, 1939. Austin died October 9, 1977. Survivors include her five children, Ronald (Sandy) Schinkle, Springfield, OH, John Schinkle, Las Lunas, NM, Raymond (Judy) Schinkle, Jean (Hank) Malone, and Leo (Mary) Schinkle, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Barbara Eggers, Ronald Schinkle, Jr., Donna Schinkle, Timothy Schinkle, and Jeremy Schinkle; great-grandchildren, Nicole Sparks, Austin Schinkle, and Clayton Schinkle; sisters, Mary Lou Tarwater and Rita Klug; and a brother, John Klug. She was preceded in death by a twin brother, Joseph; brothers, Maurice, Paul, Martin, and Raymond; sisters, Helen and Martha. Justine was employed by the old Chillicothe Hospital from 1941-1943 and returned in 1960, retiring from Adena Regional in 1976. Justine was a member of St. Mary Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery. Friends may call 4-7:30 pm Monday, at the Haller Funeral Home, where a wake service will be held at 7:30. . Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, 61 S.
