Julia M. Shaver, 70, of Columbus, died peacefully at home February 15, 2021, surrounded by family following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born December 28, 1950, in Columbus, OH, to the late Philip W., Jr. and Mary E. (Braik) Schaeffing. On July 9, 1983, she married John G. Shaver, who survives.
Also surviving is her beloved daughter and son-in-law Jenny (Nick) Prebish, of Columbus; her first grandchild is expected this summer; her brother and sister-in-law Philip W. (RoseAnn) Schaeffing, Columbus; sisters and brother-in-law Patricia (Sam) Moone, Canal Winchester, and Margaret "Peg" Haller, Chillicothe; her brother-in-law Robert Detamore, Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by sisters Jane Schaeffing, Jean Detamore and Phyllis Hand; and her brothers-in-law Benney Haller, Edward Fisher and William Hand.
Julia was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy and The Ohio State University. She had worked as a Pharmacist at Greene's Pharmacy for over 20 years and several other independent pharmacies for an additional 20 years. She enjoyed reading, baking, traveling and spending time with family. She was most at home on a beach with the sand between her toes.
At her request, private services will be held at the convenience of the family under the direction of Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pelotonia to help end the fight against cancer.
