Judy Tanner

Judy B. Tanner, 75, of Chillicothe, went to be with her Lord July 17, 2023, following an extended illness.
She was born November 9, 1947 in Piketon, OH to the late Harold and Mary Davis Harris. On June 18, 1966 she married James R. Tanner, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Harold "Jamie" (Yayu) Tanner, of Bali, Indonesia and J. R. Tanner II, of Columbus; three granddaughters, Zaire Chester, and Alleisha and Bianca Tanner; two sisters, Norma Jean Strawder, of Phoenix, AZ, and Edith Woodard, of Lima, OH; a brother, Paul (Alma) Harris, of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a stillborn brother.
Mrs. Tanner retired from the Chillicothe City School system and was a longtime member and Deaconess at First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and was a Jennings Scholar, and Teacher Emeritus of the Chillicothe School System. She loved her church, and she loved to travel.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday at First Baptist Church, Rev. Eric Carson and Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Thursday at First Baptist Church, or from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in her honor.
