Joyce Harris

Joyce J. Harris, 70, of Chillicothe, died at 5:00am Friday, March 27, 2009, in Heartland Nursing Home. She was born November 11, 1938, in Chillicothe to the late Elsworth and Clara Jane Wingo Dixon. On December 27, 1959, she married Leonard W. Harris, who preceded her in death in 1972. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law June (Dezi) Lee, of Chillicothe; Jacqueline (Hubert) Sam, Los Angeles, CA; sons Gregory L. Harris, Columbus; and Leonard Chris Harris, Chillicothe; grandchildren: James Lee, Keeonna Lee, Aaron Harris, Sierra Harris, Arianna Sam, Savannah Harris, Samantha Sam, and Payton Harris; sisters Naomi Bunch, Chillicothe; and Janice (Edward) Henry, Xenia; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother James Dixon and sisters Gloria Jones and Barbara Harris. Joyce was the activities director for Heartland of Chillicothe for fifteen years before retiring in 2008. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, where funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday, March 31, with Pastor Jeremy Beverly and Pastor J. Troy Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8pm Monday at Haller Funeral Home.
