Josh Cyrus, a beloved friend, devoted family member, and loving husband, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a courageous battle with cancer. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering friendship will never be forgotten.
He was born on February 11, 1977, beloved son of Joseph and Becki (Bethel) Cyrus, Jr, who raised him with the values of kindness and hard work; something he carried throughout his life. On May 5, 2007, he married his beloved wife, Kelly (Patterson) Cyrus, who stood by his side with unwavering love and support. He also leaves behind numerous beloved family members who will forever cherish his memory, including his Aunt Sue Hughes and Aunt Debbie (Keith) Detty; his grandmother, Martha Bethel; sister-in-law, Kim (Luke) Arrowood; nephew and niece, Aiden and Akira Arrowood; mother-in-law, Maxine Patterson; and his faithful canine companions, Bella and Blazer. Josh is also remembered by countless friends who became like family- people whose lives were touched by his generosity, humor and willingness to always be there; his beloved work family who graciously helped support him and Kelly through some of their toughest times. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Cleota Cyrus, and Carl Bethel, and his father-in-law, Ted Patterson.
Josh was a graduate of Unioto High School, class of 1995. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Wright State University, and his master’s degree in engineering from Ohio University. Following his education venture, he became the Vice President of Engineering at EPC in Circleville, a place where he gained many lifelong friends. Although he was dedicated to his career, his one true passion was his love for trucks and car shows. Josh won numerous awards through the years at various car shows and enjoyed traveling to attend different events with his car show family. He had numerous “brothers and sisters” from the Ecstacy Car Club, all of whom were near and dear to his heart.
In keeping with his love for trucks, friends are encouraged to bring their vehicles as a tribute to his life during visitation on Monday, April 27, 2026 from 4:00pm-8:00pm, and to his funeral service at 10:00am Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Anyone who wants to attend his final send-off for one last ride is welcome to drive their cars in procession to Springbank Cemetery in honor of the man whose passion brought so many people together. Guests attending the visitation and funeral services are encouraged to wear their favorite shirt with a vehicle logo.
Although our hearts are broken, Josh’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and never forgotten.
