Joseph R. Wrightsel, 72, of Kingston, died 6:35 am, March 30, 2024 at the VA Medical Center-Chillicothe, following a years long illness.
He was born November 2, 1951 in Vinton Co. to the late Charles R. and Margaret E. Hoover Wrightsel. Survivors include a daughter, Angela D. Wrightsel, Kingston; 3 siblings, Connie (Shawn) Hamilton, Chillicothe, Paul (Michael) Wrightsel, Kingston, and Todd Wrightsel, Chillicothe; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece and nephew, Tami Rainer and Hunter Lemaster; a special caregiver, Lori Lawler; and his K9 companion, Mischief. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alissa F. Wrightsel, a son, Jesson Wrightsel; and 2 brothers, Mike and Adam Wrightsel.
Joe was a Vietnam War Army veteran, having served 3 tours. He spent most of his life working in the family business, Ross-Co Redi-Mix as General Sales and Operations Manager. He had his father's quick wit and work ethic. He was known for helping others, especially his fellow veterans. Rev. J. C. Collins was his pastor, and close friend.
Military graveside services and inurnment will be held in Greenlawn Cemetery, and announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ross Co, Humane Society, 2308 Lick Run Rd., Chillicothe, OH 45601 or any veteran's organization.
