Joseph Strausbaugh

GySgt Joseph E. Strausbaugh USMC (Retired) 69, of Chillicothe, died 6:10 pm, December 22, 2009, at his home, surrounded by family and friends, following an extended illness. He was born July 22, 1940 in Chillicothe to the late Beemon E. and Margaret M. Congrove Strausbaugh. Survivors include his children, Kelly and Kimberly Strausbaugh, of Chillicothe and William (Christy) Strausbaugh, of California; 9 grandchildren, Joseph and Aaron Carroll, Khaylheishah Pettiford, Jason (Andrea), Jordan, Keaton, Trey, Aubrey, and Hanna Strausbaugh; a great-grandchild, Thea Strausbaugh; sisters, Delores (Robert) Fyffe, Connie (William) Archer, Chery Stanhope, Patty Wilson, and Shirley Frost; a brother, Vernie Strausbaugh; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, the mother of his children, Barbara Strausbaugh, Mildred Doyle, Dennis and Tammy Doyle and family, Chuck Payne, Nancy Crabtree, and Stan Clark. He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Strausbaugh, and a twin sister, Jennie. Mr. Strausbaugh retired from the US Marine Corp. and the VA Medical Center, Chillicothe. He was a life member of AMVETS Post 4. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday at the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the US Marine Corp. will follow in Hallsville Cemetery. Friends may call 11-1 Saturday at Haller's.
