Joseph Griesheimer was born on March 21, 1944, and died on November 30 at 2:15 a.m. at Adena Medical Center after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Ray Griesheimer, and his brother, Raymond "Scotty" Griesheimer. He is survived by his sister, JoAnne (Mike) Rolf, and brother, Herbert Griesheimer.
Joe and his wife Cheryl started dating in high school at age 16 and were married on July 2, 1966. Soon after, Joe was called to serve in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. After his military service, he completed his postsecondary degree in education while working at the post office. Joe taught at various schools in the community, including Worthington, Tiffin, and McArthur Elementary, and Mt. Logan Middle School, among others. Joe genuinely cared about his students, he loved his roles as teacher and principal. In addition to teaching, Joe coached track, football, and, most notably, basketball at Bishop Flaget and Unioto. He will be remembered as a proud educator.
Joe is survived by his wife Cheryl, his son Rob, his daughter Lee (Pete), and his beloved grandchildren Max Griesheimer, Harrison Higgs, and Ruth Higgs, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Tunnel to Towers or the Ross County Humane Society.
