Chillicothe

Jose A. Gutierrez-Huerta, 44, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away on December 17, 2025, in his home surrounded by family, following an extended illness. He was born on May 21, 1981, in Huatusco, Veracruz, Mexico, to the late Artemio Gutierrez-Perez and Victoria E. Huerta-Chavez, who survives. In the year of 2004, he was united in marriage to Shannon (Sammons) Gutierrez, who survives.

Also surviving are children, Alexander Antonio and Audrey Victoria Gutierrez; siblings, Elvira, Braulio, Benita, Adela, Andres, Rafael, and Juana; nephew, Jesus A. Cosquilla-Gutierrez; father and mother-in-law, Sheldon and Joyce Sammons; brother-in-law, Seth Sammons; and his good friend that was more like a brother to him, Luis Cruz. In addition to his father, he is predeceased by a brother, Cenobio.

Jose had two great passions in life, his career and his family. He was a very determined person and dedicated employee. You could find him working at Los Mariachis on Bridge St. in Chillicothe, where he was the manager for many years. His work ethic was a way he showed love for his family. He was a loving husband to Shannon, and father to Alexander and Audrey, and good friend to many. Jose also made sure that his mother, Victoria, was cared for back home in Mexico. Of his accomplishments, he was most proud of gaining his United States citizenship in 2016, when he passed the test with a perfect score of 100%.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 12:00pm at the Haller Funeral Home and Crematory with burial to follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service.
