Joice Moore, 97, died Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio, following a brief illness.
Joice is survived by Susan Moore; her daughter, Dennis Moore, Terrence Moore, Richard Moore, Kirk Moore; her sons; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard R. Moore Jr., Beverly (Moore) Hinty; daughter, Roy W. Hinty; son-in-law, and Danielle Yoe; grandaughter.
Joice was born and raised in England. She volunteered as a teenager during World War II, where she met her husband Howard, who was serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. They were wed in England, and when the war ended, she followed him Chillicothe, Ohio. Soon after, her mother and four brothers followed.
Joice began work at New System Bakery and later joined her mother at Hillside Market, where they worked aside each other for many years. She eventually retired from a position at Adena Regional Medical Center.
Joice was an avid gardener with a powerful green thumb.She enjoyed mowing her yard perched upon her red Toro lawn tractor, while playfully harassed by her loyal border-collie, Katie. For years, she enjoyed square-dancing with her husband in the Belles and Beaus club. She was also a dedicated member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church congregation.
A graveside service is being schedule for Friday, November 3rd, 2023 at 1:00 pm Floral Hills Memorial Garden, where Joice's and Katie's ashes will be buried next to her husband.
