John Josef Yaple, 70, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday morning, September 26, 2019 at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center, following an extended illness.
He was born August 20, 1949 in Kaprun, Austria to the late Floyd and Margarethe (Lederer) Yaple.
Surviving are his two children, John Yaple, of Lockbourne, OH, and Connie McPeek, of Commercial Point, OH; seven grandchildren, Ricky, Stephanie, Wyatt, and Aubrey Yaple, Thomas, Lillie, and Elysa McPeak; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Malea Yaple; his good friend and longtime caretaker, Mary Oakes; and his siblings, Ben Yaple, Evelyn Amerine, and Kathy Owings.
John was an honorably discharged veteran and served in both the US Army and US Navy. He later went on to work at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center in the loading docks for many years before his retirement. In his free time, he enjoyed getting to go hunting with his brother Ben and going fishing. He was also a member of the VFW.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public calling hours or services.
