John E. True John E. True, 83, of Chillicothe died 7:35 am Monday, March 06, 2006, in Heartland of Chillicothe, following a brief illness. He was born August 30, 1922 in Ross Co. to Sherman and Rose Shewalter True. On August 2, 2003, he married Imogene Huff, who survives. Also surviving is his son, Michael (Polly) True, of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Kathleen (Luke) Rapp, Lori (Doug) Kirby, Jennifer Hagen and John Michael True; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Leslie (Donna) True, of Grove City; and a half sister, Joyce (Claude) Secora, of Lakeland, FL. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Roberts, July 22, 2002; and two brothers, Harold and Merle. John retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, as a dispatcher. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Logan Elm Lodge 624 F & AM, the York Rite and Scottish Rite, the Aladdin Shriners, (having just been named an Ambassador), the Ross Co. Shrine Club, and was a life member of the American Legion 757, Moose, and VFW Post 8. John was most involved with the Shriners Hospitals and organized the local "Tabloid Days" for years. John worked tirelessly to raise money for "his crippled children." Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Thursday in the Haller Funeral Home, Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Military graveside services will follow in Floral Hills Memory Garden. Friends may call 6-8 pm Wednesday where a Masonic Funeral Service will be held at 8:00 pm to conclude calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095 in John's name.
