John D. South, 73, of Chillicothe, died at 6:03pm June 30, 2022, at Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born October 5, 1948, in Ironton, OH, to the late James O. and Virginia L. (Pine) South. On November 3, 1968, he married the former Patricia Ann Miller, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter and son-in-law Wanda (Tim) Gay, of Chillicothe; grandchildren: Jacob (Lillie) Gay, of Ironton, Nicole Gay and Joey Gay, both of Chillicothe; great-grandchildren Charlee and Nathaniel Gay; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son John D. South, Jr.; his sister Wanda Cashdollar; and brothers Hank and James South. John served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting. Graveside services will be held at 12:00pm Wednesday, July 6, at the South Family Cemetery in South Point, OH.
