John Smith

John Michael Smith, Jr., 37, of Chillicothe, passed away unexpectedly December 31, 2007, in Adena Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm Friday, January 4, 2008, at the Happy Valley Church with Pastor Roy Carver officiating. Burial will follow in Huntington Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. John was born December 8, 1970, in Washington C. H., OH to John Michael, Sr. and Rebecca Ann Wood Smith. On April 22, 1989, he married the former Rose L. Lewis, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter Brittany Ann Smith; son John "Mikey" Smith, III; special children Kearra and Treyton Strausbaugh, all of Chillicothe; his mother and step-father Becky (Curt) Guard; sisters Kim (Tim) Butcher, all of Washington C.H.; and Tracey (Jeremy) Lutey, of Columbus; father-in-law Joe Lewis; nieces and nephews: Drew, Dylan, Destinee, Cortny, Kelsey, Chloey, J.T., Molly, Jasey, Joey, Luke, McKenzie, Jesse, Hayley, C.J., Christian, Lee, Andrea, Angela, and Amber. He was predeceased by his father; his step-father Tom Leach; brother Jamie Smith; paternal grandparents Tom and Ruth Smith; maternal grandparents John and Garland Wood; and his mother-in-law Sue Lewis. John was a self-employed carpenter. He formerly attended Happy Valley Church. Dad, we love you and miss you. We couldn't have asked for a better Dad. We've never doubted that you love us. No one will ever take your place. If I (Mikey) have a son, I will name him John, like you wanted me to. I (Mikey) promise I will take care of our dogs. We are very proud to have you as our Dad and we want to thank you for always being there for us. You have helped to make us strong. We both will make you proud. You have been a good Dad to Treyton and Kearra. We won't let them forget you. We will always love you. You will stay forever in our hearts. Thank you, Dad, for everything you taught us.
