Chillicothe

John Wayne Roberts, 59 years old of Chillicothe Ohio, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday December 20th 2025 surrounded by loved ones at Ohio State Medical Center. Leaving behind a farm full of memories, and a family who knows they’ll never find another like him. Heaven just gained the best mechanic, and there is no doubt the tractors up there are running better.

John was an amazing Son, Brother, Uncle and Husband. The world’s best Dad and his favorite title of all “Pappaw”.

John was a farmer through and through, known by all as the kind of man who could fix anything with his hands. Tractors, trucks, combines, engines, and even things some folks would have given up on. If it was broken, Pappaw could fix it with a smile and a story to go along with it. A favorite saying was “If Pappaw can’t fix it, we are all screwed.”

John had a special gift when it came to his cattle, knowing his cows better than anyone. He could tell just by looking at them when something wasn’t right. Many veterinarians were amazed at John’s gift and his ability to catch sickness early, nurse his cattle back to health with real life experience, a lot of patience and the most admirable compassion and dedication. His animals weren’t just livestock- they were part of his life which he took great pride and joy in.

As “Pappaw” he taught his family the value of honest work, responsibility, and love for the land. He shared lessons the only way he knew how, from the tractor seat, the barn and the pasture, passing down knowledge that can’t be learned in books- only learned through years of living it.

John was preceded in death by his Grandparents Carl & Berniece Roberts, John is survived by his parents Carl Wayne and Virgina Ruth (Jordan) Roberts, Wife Beth (Wood) Roberts, Sister Debra (Gregg) Riffel, His Children Josh (Kayleigh) Roberts, Ashtan (Casey) Nicholson, His Children’s mother Angie (Newman) Roberts. And the Light of his world Grandchildren Lillian, Paisley, Braxton and Briggs who will all miss his steady hands, kind heart and unmeasurable wisdom.

John’s legacy lives on in every piece of equipment he repaired, every cow he cared for, and every life he touched.

A private graveside burial will be held with family.
