John River

John Frederick "Fred" River, 62, of Chillicothe, died unexpectedly Thursday, August 8, 2013, at his home. He was born September 21, 1950 in Chillicothe, OH to the late James E. "Ernie" and Helen J. "Jean" Crowe River. On October 18, 1980 he married Krista K. Roush, who survives. Also surviving is his son, Steven F. River, Columbia, SC; a brother, Dr. James D. River, Circleville; a sister, Joanna K. (Richard Oestreich) River, Chillicothe; and brothers-in-law, Robin (Stacey), Mark (Brenda), and Andy (Chrissy) Roush; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William E. and Charles E. River. Mr. River retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation as a civil engineer. He was a graduate of the Ohio State University and a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday at the HALLER FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 1-3 pm Tuesday at HALLER'S.
