John W. Pool John W. Pool, 88, of Chillicothe, died 3:20 am, June 17, 2007 in the Adena Regional Medical Center. Carrying out Mr. Pool's wishes, cremation will take place. Military graveside services, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will follow 11:00 am, Friday, in the Brown's Chapel (Deerfield Township) Cemetery. Following the graveside services, family and friends will gather at the daughter's home, 430 Roberta Lane. Private calling hours will be held for the immediate family in the Haller Funeral Home prior to cremation. He was born March 10, 1919 in Ross Co. to the late Hobart M. and Hazel G. Burdett Pool. He married Fern Maxine Stratton on October 14, 1940, who preceded him in death, June 6, 2000. Survivors include daughter, Sonja Snyder, a special friend, Neal French, and son, Johnny G. (Nonia) Pool; three grandchildren, Michael Alan Snyder, Johnny Shane (Wendy) Pool, and Toni (J.P.) Hamp; four great-grandchildren, Nickie Lynn and Bobbie Joe Hamp, Joey Pool, and Tiffini Snyder. Also surviving are four brothers, Jim (Josephine) Pool, of Pocatello, ID, Harold "Wimp" Pool, Estel "Popeye" (Buelah) Pool, and Mike (Lacee) Pool; two sisters, Helen McCullough and Ethel (Pete) Hill; a sister-in-law, Patty Pool and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Mr. Pool in death were infant twin sisters, a sister, Dorothy (Paul) M. McCullough and brothers, Robert, Frank and Larry. John had retired from the Ross Co. Engineers. He was an avid motorcyclist most of his life and was a member of the Chillicothe HOG Club. John was a World War II Navy Veteran and served on the battleship, USS Texas. He also built the first fire truck for the community of Clarksburg and served as their first fire chief. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
