John R. Parrett, 89, of Chillicothe, died November 10, 2005, at Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1916, in Dayton, OH to the late Robert W. and Ellen (Hennegan) Parrett. On May 29, 1951, he married the former Jeannette Cockrell, who preceded him in death on September 14, 1998. Surviving are his son Larry Bell, Bourneville; grandchildren Liberty Bell and her fiancée Matthew Krebs; Lauren Bell; Danielle Wheeler; Angie Bankston; 6 great-grandchildren; and sisters Louise Kauer; Betty Roll, both of Columbus; and Roberta Loney, of Arizona. He was predeceased by infant children John Robert Parrett, Jr., and Mary Penelope Parrett. Mr. Parrett was the owner/operator of the former Parrett's Custom Butchering for 30 years. He was a graduate of Frankfort High School, Class of 1934. He served his country in the Army during WWII in the Pacific Theatre and was awarded the Bronze Star. John was a 55 year member of the American Legion, Post 483, Frankfort. He was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00am Thursday, November 17, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Rev. Lawrence Hummer, Celebrant. Military graveside services will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. At his request, calling hours will not be observed. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Salvation Army, 171 E. Fourth St., Chillicothe.
