John E. "Jay" Norton, Jr., 46, of South Salem, died at 9:50pm October 23, 2021, at Ohio State University Hospital following an extended battle with COVID-19.
He was born July 9, 1975, in Gallipolis, OH, to John E., Sr. and Brenda K. (Bush) Norton, who survive.
Also surviving are his son Dolan Bounds, of Lubbock, TX; siblings Paul (Joy) Norton, of Tuscaloosa, AL, Amanda Norton, of Pensacola, FL, Benjamin (Rachel) Norton, of Eight Mile, AL, Joy (Eric) Gillum, of South Salem, Timothy (Chelsea) Norton, of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, whom he adored. He was predeceased by his brother Matthew Norton.
Jay worked at Riffle Machine, where he became known as "Kermit." He was an accomplished musician and loved spending time with his family, especially playing the role of the "favorite uncle."
A memorial service will be held at 4pm Friday, October 29, at the Jefferson Ave. CCCU, with Rev. Mark Clendaniel officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-4pm Friday at the church.
