John Hurles Jr.

John O. Hurles Jr., 79, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, following an extended illness. He was born on May 16, 1947 to the late John Hurles Sr. and Juanita J. Borland. On June 14, 2012, he was united in marriage to M. Kay Smith, who survives.

Also surviving are children, Jason (Christina) Hurles, Juliana (Tim) Hurles, Sarah (Damon) Taylor; grandchildren, Meranda (Kenny) Heath, Alex Rounsley, Tucker Taylor, Harper Taylor, Shawn Hurles, Heather Platt; great-grandchildren, Erica, Isaiah, Matthew, Hazel, and Mandilynn. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Sharon “Sis” Hurles, his grandchild, Michaela Hurles, and his beloved dog, Flynn.

John served in the United States Navy and was an executive member of American Legion Post 62. He enjoyed spending his time on the VA golf course as a member of their league. Most of all, he enjoyed his time with his family.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place. Military honors will be named at a later date in Grandview Cemetery.
