John Harper

November 21, 1939 — October 1, 2023

John R. Harper left this brief life for his eternal heavenly home on October 1, 2023. He was a hard worker the entirety of his life, but the one thing he knew he could not earn or work for was salvation. Therefore, he placed a saving faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.  He was born November 21, 1939 to the late Ted and Katherine Harper. He married the late Sue Dell Jones on October 15, 1960. They enjoyed over 60 years of raising a family and serving the Lord together. He is survived by his children Jon (Linda) Harper of Greenfield and Cyndy (late Jerry) Driggs of Frankfort. He is also survived by his dearly loved grandchildren Janae (Fleming VI) Saunders of Fairfax, Virginia, Levi Driggs of Chillicothe, Zachary Harper of Denver, Colorado, Kaleb Harper of Greenfield, Taylor Harper of Fort Bragg, NC, and great grandsons Fleming Easton Saunders VII and Brady Harper Saunders. He is also survived by brother Tom (Jan) Harper and sister Donna Holycross.

John graduated from Frankfort High School and enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling, and playing baseball/softball. He made his own ultralight aircraft and could be seen soaring the skies above Ross County. He was an Army Veteran serving overseas in Germany. After many years with Tower Communications, he became an entrepreneur as he started two successful businesses, Adena Cable serving the Frankfort and Kingston area and TLC Oilube serving the Ross County area. He was a quiet and humble man with a big heart and a dry wit. He loved his family and faithfully served behind the scenes at Chillicothe Baptist Church. He was instrumental in finding and securing the land for the current site of Chillicothe Baptist Church. He was an example of quiet, steadfast trust in the Lord and He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 12:00pm at the Haller Funeral Home followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetery. Frankfort. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00am to 12:00pm.
