John Hall

January 27, 1934 — June 24, 2022

John Clark Hall, 88, of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed peacefully at Adena Medical Center at 12:36 p.m. on June 24, 2022, after suffering a stroke the previous month. He was born January 27, 1934, in Ceredo, West Virginia, to the late Randolph Hall, Sr. and Nellie Kessinger Hall.

He is survived by his son Jon Mark (Cathy) Hall, Bainbridge; daughters Vikki (Shannon) Bobb, Siem Reap, Cambodia; and Dawn (Dean) Knauff, Bainbridge; a son-in-law, Jim Weigle of McDonough, GA;  a sister-in-law, Elaine Hall of Baraboo, WI, and numerous nieces and nephews; along with his grandchildren Chelsea (Matthew) Bruning, Chillicothe; Whitney (Damon) Givens, Centerville; Cassidy (Justin) Drummond, Bainbridge; Stephen Tyler Knauff, Clintonville; Breanna Knauff, Bainbridge; Taylor (Wesley) Collingsworth, Lexington, KY; Canaan Bobb, Bainbridge;  Madison Bobb, Lexington, KY; and Zoe Bobb, Wilmore, KY; and great-grandchildren Charlie, Max, and Lillian Bruning; Hallie and Hayes Drummond; Henry Givens; and Carter Cammon and Colby Knauff.

John was preceded in death by his daughter Annette Weigle; brothers Randolph (King) Hall, Jr.; Jimmie (Flip) Hall; Glenn (Boze) Hall; and sister, Maxine McKenzie.

Our dad graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School in 1951 and moved to Chillicothe in the late 1950s when he was hired at Chilpaco. He retired from Chilpaco Paper Mill where he worked for 35 years, along with the U.S. Army Reserves as a Warrant Officer 3 after 36 years of service. He served as the bus driver for the Chillicothe Paints baseball team for 17 years.  He could be found at all home games in his front row seat right behind home plate. He was a loyal fan and enjoyed listening to the games during his time in rehabilitation after his stroke. He was a member of Scioto Lodge #6 Free and Accepted Masons and all York Rite bodies.

He was a gentle giant–hardworking, honest, generous, loyal and dependable. He never failed to ask any of us, "Do you need anything?" before we left his house. He enjoyed watching sports and mowing his yard and was immensely proud of all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

We want to express our gratitude to the nurses, therapists and PCA's at Adena Rehabilitation in Greenfield, Ohio and to the amazing ICU staff at Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe for taking such good care of dad.

A private graveside service will be held in his hometown of Ceredo, West Virginia, where he will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the South-Central Ohio Chapter of the American Red Cross, 181 N. Bridge Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601.
