John L. Fosson, 74, of Chillicothe, died at 9:52pm, April 20, 2023, at Heartland Promedica, following an extended illness. He was born April 13, 1949, in Ashland, KY, to the late Harold Eugene and Bertie Margaret (Mullins) Fosson. On March 4, 1972, he married the love of his life, former Cristine Jackson, who survives. In addition to his wife Cris, he is survived by his children and grandchildren who he loved and adored dearly... daughter and son-in-law Marianna (P.D.) Fosson-Otworth; sons and daughter-in-law Matthew Fosson, and Michael (Elizabeth) Fosson; grandchildren: Landen Jackson Fosson Cox, Emma Fosson, Isabelle Fosson, Makai Fosson, Isla Fosson, Iris Fosson, Ryley Otworth, Lexie (Ian) White and Seth Cox; his loving siblings Tom Fosson, Sandy (Mike) Childers, Dave (Laura) Fosson; sister-in-law Nan Fosson; brother-in-law Paul (Theresa) Jackson; and his beloved canine "Duke." In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Don Fosson; and his in-laws Marianne and Paul R. Jackson. John graduated from Ohio University for his undergrad in Political Science and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate at University of Cincinnati. He was a proud Bobcat AND Bearcat! He was not only a devoted man to his family but also to the community of Chillicothe. He practiced law and represented clients all over the state of Ohio and had offices in both Chillicothe and Waverly. He was an active member of the Ohio Bar Association and the local Lions Club. He proudly served the City of Chillicothe as a sitting member of Council and then 30 years as Clerk of Council. Anyone who had the honor of knowing John, knew his kindness and willingness to help in anyway. Hobbies included anything to support his family, grandchildren sporting events and just being the best husband, father, grandfather and sibling to those he loved. He was also very active in supporting Grateful Hearts Senior Dog Rescue with his beloved dog, Duke. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5pm Friday, April 28, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends from 2-5pm Friday at the funeral home.
