John Clayton Cutright, Jr., 88, of Chillicothe, died at his residence at 4:25am December 26, 2023, following an extended illness.
He was born May 5, 1935, in Chillicothe to the late John C., Sr. and Ruth (Botkin) Cutright. On October 9, 1953, he married the former Carol Sue Magill, who preceded him in death on April 29, 2012.
Surviving are his children: Keith (Louwanna) Cutright, John "Jay" Cutright III and Susan Osman, all of Chillicothe; a son-in-law Donald Rogers, of Marysville; grandchildren: Heidi (Jason) Sanders, Keith Alan (Nikki) Cutright, Jr., Megan (Johnny) Davis, John C. (Ashley) Cutright IV; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie Adams, Casen Cutright, Cameron Cutright, Ella Cutright, Caden Cutright, Brody Cutright, John C. Cutright V, and Addisyn Cutright; sisters Carole Haines-Cox, of Chillicothe; and Mary "Tiny" Workman, of Georgia; and additional close family members Vicki (Robert) Bernhardt, Brenda (Chad) Hymas, Becky (Bob) Matson and Robin Barnes. John was predeceased by his parents; his wife Carol; his daughter Kimberly Rogers; and siblings: James Cutright, Mildred Houck, Beatrice Dingman, Cora "Betty" Schrake, (Ruth) Joanne Mathers, Frances Drummond, Robert Cutright and Grace Weaver.
John attended Huntington High School and retired from CHILPACO following over 40 years of service. He was a huge auto enthusiast, enjoying his antique cars and working in autobody repair. John took great pride in his caring for his lawn on his John Deere tractor. He was a member of Scioto Lodge No. 6, F & AM. The family would like to acknowledge his granddaughter Megan, her husband Johnny, and their children Ella, Caden and Brody, for their loving support of John during his later years.
His funeral service will be held at 2pm Friday, December 29, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Huntington Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Thursday and again from 1-2pm Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic funeral will be held at 5pm Thursday at the funeral home.
