John Otto Burns passed away on August 19, 2026. He was born on June 23, 1931 to the late John F. Burns and Grace McConnell.
John served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 - 1953. He was a graduate of Otterbein College and worked as an engineer at GM Fisher Body for 36 years.
On June 1, 1957, he married Joan Lannon. Surviving is his daughter, Elizabeth, and three sons, Erick, John, and Matthew.
John was a scout leader at Troop 214, St. Mary Magdalene Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #6.
He was a leader, adventurer, outdoorsman, steward, and protector of the environment. Fixer of all things, gardener, loving of family, friends, good scotch and old pipes.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm Monday, August 31, at Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, where military honors, conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard, will be held.
