John H. Burgin, 67, of Columbus, formerly of Chillicothe, died December 3, 2015, at Bryden Place, Columbus. He was born December 6, 1947, in Jasper AL, to the late Joseph and Nora (Calloway) Burgin. Surviving are his brothers Carl A. Burgin, Sr., Chillicothe; Ronnie Burgin, Jasper, AL; sisters Anna Louise Williams, Cleveland; and Gloria Jean Hankins, Jasper, AL; several nieces and nephews; half-brothers Greg, Ken, Doug and Garland Ferris; and a half-sister Janice Ferris. He was predeceased by sisters Ida Jimerson, Ivory McKenzie and Renee Ferris; and his step-mother Pearl Burgin. Mr. Burgin was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. He served his country in the US Army for three years during the Vietnam War, worked at RCA and the Mead Paper Co., and enjoyed playing softball. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Clifford Brown officiating. Military graveside service will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
