John Anderson
September 22, 1948 — March 7, 2025
John Stephen Anderson, 76, of Chillicothe passed away on March 7, 2025, at Adena Regional Medical Center, following a series of complicated hospitalizations after a motor vehicle accident in October of last year.
He was born on September 22, 1948, in Chillicothe, OH to the late Howard Emil Anderson, and Rowena (Preston) Anderson. After graduating from Waverly High School in 1966, John went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Ohio University in 1971. In 1980, he married Deborah Kay Anderson, and together they had one son, Jay Stewart Anderson.
For many years, he worked and retired from CSX Railroad, and later throughout the eighties and nineties owned and operated the Shawnee Casting company, a local aluminum foundry. John was a man of many interests, and enjoyed trains, flea markets, the outdoors, his dogs, and regular travels to Put-in-Bay. He was also a longtime member of the Sons of the American Legion, AMVETS, Eagles, and he was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Master Mason.
John is survived by Debbie, his wife of 44 years, and their only son, Jay. Additionally, He is survived by two younger sisters, Sandra (Anderson) Price and Sheila (Anderson) Domo, one younger brother, Rob Anderson, all of Chillicothe, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
His celebration of life will be held Sunday, March 16 from 4-7 PM at Haller Funeral Home and Crematory in Chillicothe, and family and his many good friends are invited to attend. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Grandview Cemetery, in Chillicothe.
