Joe R. McNeal, 81, of Chillicothe, passed away at 9:02am, Monday January 31, 2011, at Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. He was born January 2, 1930, in Chillicothe, OH, to the late Ernest and Leona Stanhope McNeal. On June 27, 1959, he married the former Loretta Jane Harper, who preceded him in death on August 28, 2007. Surviving are his sons and daughter-in-law Scott (Cindy) McNeal; Mark McNeal, all of Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law Sharon (Bob) Belliveau, of Miamisburg, OH; grandchildren Sarah, Joe (Amity), Jennifer, Kelli, Jessica; step-grandchildren Bradley (Cheryl) and Sean; 6 great-grandchildren; his sister Mary Willis, Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister Doris Pence. Joe was a graduate of Chillicothe High School, Class of 1948. He was a Sergeant in the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict. Joe retired from the Mead Paper Co. in 1995 following 46 years of service and was a member of the Local 731. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the Cincinnati Reds, and playing cards. The family would like to thank the skilled nursing staff at Westmoreland Place for their excellent care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Friday, February 4, at the Haller Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Rinehart officiating. Military graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7pm Thursday at Haller Funeral Home. Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
