Joe Lewis

March 2, 1936 — January 28, 2009

On January 28, 2009, our Dad, Joe Wheeler Lewis, 72, of Chillicothe, went to be with his Lord and Savior. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, February 4, 2009, in the Happy Valley CCCU, 464 Trego Creek Rd., with Rev Roy Carver officiating. Military Graveside services conducted by the Ross Co. Veterans Honor Guard will follow in Huntington Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home. Joe was born March 2, 1936, in Woods, KY, to the late Mack, Sr. and Maudie Adkins Lewis. On January 30, 1961, he married the former Anna "Sue" McCray, who preceded him in death on February 24, 2007. He has a large family that will love and miss him forever. Surviving are his sons Tom Lewis; Benjamin (Amanda) Lewis; all of Chillicothe; daughters Laura Lewis and her fiancée Terry Timmons, of Ludewica, GA; Melody (Leroy) Haskins; Sarah Bivens; Rose Smith; Misty (Jason) Uhrig, all of Chillicothe; his fiancée Wanda Daniels of Cedar Grove, WV; sister Corena (Dale) Scott, of Willard, OH; brothers Don (Betty) Lewis, of Norfolk, VA; Mack (Cindy) Lewis, Jr., of West Land, MI; thirteen grandchildren: Amber, Angela, Andrea, Lee, Brittany, Christian, CJ, Mikey, Hayley, Jesse, McKenzie, Luke and Jasey; four great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Kearra, Joey and Treyton, all of whom loved their Papaw dearly. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by sisters Molly Robinson, Ellen Curtwell, Johnetta Graybeal; a son-in-law John M. Smith, Jr.; and two grandchildren Tammy and David Fosnight. Dad was a proud Veteran serving in the 82nd Infantry of the US Army from 1958-1960. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of Happy Valley Church for over twenty years and attended Trinity Lighthouse Church. Dad, there are no words to describe how much you mean to us and how much we will miss you. It's so hard to let you go, but it makes it easier knowing that you and Mom are together again. You will always be a part of us. 'Til we meet again, you will forever be in our hearts, your loving children.
