Joanna Jones

Joanna Joyce (Harbert) Brunton Jones, 88, of Lancaster, formerly of Chillicothe, passed away peacefully at 7:40pm August 3, 2017, into the loving arms of her Lord. She died at Crestview Rehab Center, Lancaster, following an extended illness.   She was born August 13, 1928, in Jackson County, OH, to the late John M. and Lucille (Booth) Harbert. On November 24, 1949, she married Charles Orrin Brunton, who preceded her in death on February 8, 1986. In 1993, she married John C. Jones, Sr., who preceded her in death on December 12, 1999.   Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Valerie (Bill) Eckman, Lancaster; 3 step-children Clayton (Mitzi) Jones, Jackson; Sharon (Frank) Jones-Pappajohn, Alexandria, VA; Keith (Myong) Jones, Gahanna, OH; step-grandsons Adam and Aaron Jones, and Mark Pappajohn; sisters Rosalie Crabtree, Circleville; Loretta (Tom) Jones, Jackson; Flora (Norman) Rhea, Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John G. Harbert, of Waverly.   Joanna was a graduate of Jackson High School, Class of 1946. She retired from Citizens National Bank and had worked for the Ross Co. Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Walnut Street UMC, a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Laureate Chapter, and the Buckeye Twisters square dancing group. She loved roller skating, reading, played the trombone and enjoyed collecting angels. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses, aides and staff of Primrose Assisted Living and Crestview Rehab Center for their kindness and care.   As our family approaches the next coming days, months and years, we invite you to join us in the remembering of a life well-lived. Joanna was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, never to be forgotten, who deeply loved and cared about each of us.   Funeral services will be held at 2pm Wednesday, August 9, at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastors Janie Karl and Scott Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
