Joan Eileen Boyle, 65, of Chillicothe, died 11:27 pm, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Kobacker House, Columbus, OH, following an extended illness.
She was born July 1, 1958 in Chillicothe to the late Emmett and Eileen Breslin Boyle. Survivors include three brothers, John (Patricia) Boyle, of Chillicothe, Emmett (Patricia) Boyle, of Sylvania, and Michael (Beckie) Boyle, of Chillicothe; nieces and nephews, Shelli, Timothy, Michael, Daniel, Katy, Coleen, Sean, and Eamon; great-nieces and nephews, Sierra, Grace, Emmett, Annie, John Paul, and Emma; several cousins, including special cousins, Christine Breslin and Casey Schaffer; and good friends, Pam Steinhausser, Rhonda Rawlins, Dee Junkans, Cathy Pepin, and Roger Pepin.
Joan received her Master's Degree from Ohio University, was an educator with the Union-Scioto School District, and retired from the Madison Plains School District in July. She was the first female athletic director in Ross County, while at Unioto High School and was later inducted into the Unioto Hall of Fame. Joan also spent many years patiently teaching thousands of people to drive, with Neff Interstate Driving School.

Joan was a member of St. Mary Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 Saturday, October 7, 2023, Rev. Chris Tuttle, Celebrant. The family will receive friends 5:00-8:00 pm Friday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, where a prayer service will be held at 8:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, Seton Hall, 5900 Delhi Rd., Mount St. Joseph, OH 45051.
