Jo Ann Cunningham, 82, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family Thursday, April 24, 2025 after a brief hospitalization. Jo Ann was born in Chillicothe, OH on November 22, 1942 as one of six children to William F. Cunningham, Sr. and Mae "Catherine" Cunningham. She spent her childhood in Chillicothe, where she graduated from Chillicothe High School, but she eventually moved to Columbus, OH where she lived with her beloved son up until her passing.
Jo Ann was a devout member of the Zion Baptist Church which she attended regularly despite living over an hour away. She also took part in the weekly Bible Study with Faith Ministries. Jo Ann was a hard worker, spending over 40 years with Swan Cleaners, from where she retired in 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mae "Catherine" Cunningham, daughter, Jovannah Cunningham, and sister, Catherine "Maria" Cunningham.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, William F. Cunningham, III, grandchildren, Andre Cunningham, and LaKisha Cunningham, sisters, Carolyn Thomas, Wilmetta Austin, and Zelma (Kenneth) Jackson, brother, William F. (Iona "Jodie") Cunningham, Jr., nieces Denise "Necie" (Mark) Lisath, Belinda (Gary) Davis, Kimberly (Raymond) Berry, grand-nephews, Jaden and Jorden Berry, and a host of other beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe, OH with Rev. Dr. J. Troy Gray officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 12:00 p.m. until the scheduled time of service at the church.
