Jimmie Kelley, 83, of Chillicothe, went home to be with the Lord at 9:01am on Monday, December 23, 2024.
He was born July 28, 1941, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, son of the late Ford and Nora (Johnson) Kelley. On October 2, 1959, he married his beloved wife, Rita Carolyn (McDonald) Kelley, and together they shared over 65 years of marriage.
Also surviving are their daughters, Debbie Hilton, of Chillicothe, and Sandy (Byron) Dennis, of Clarksburg; grandchildren, Emily Alexander, and James (Ventia) Dearth; great-grandchildren, Landon Colter, Jacy Dearth, Clarissa Dearth, and Madelyn Dearth; his brother, Paul (Tammy) Kelley; four nephews; one niece; and a host of special friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anderson (Maryann) Kelley; his grandfather, William Johnson; and his uncle, Echard Kelley.
Jimmie worked at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center for more than 36 years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time volunteering at Adena Health, the Good Samaritan Food Bank, as well as the homeless shelter. He was a member of the First Church of God, where he loved attending services. In his personal life, Jimmie enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He also loved sharing stories. He will be remembered as a kind, loving, giving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Haller Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Roe officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview cemetery.
