Jesse Alan Book

Jesse Alan Book, age 34 of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Thursday December 18, 2025.

Jesse was born November 8, 1991 to John O. Book and the late Rhonda L. (Horsley) Lawson in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Jesse was a 2010 graduate of Greenup High School, Greenup, KY. He was currently employed by Walmart as an Auto Care Center Technician. Jesse was a member of the IBEW Local 575. He was also a member of the FOP, American Legion and the Eagles in Portsmouth, Ohio.

Jesse was a devoted Christian and member of the Scioto Valley Church of Christ, 651 Erving Avenue, Chillicothe, Ohio. Jesse enjoyed telling others about God’s word, encouraging them to follow the words of the Bible for eternal salvation. He wanted everyone to know the path they needed to follow so that they too could enjoy an eternity with Jesus Christ in Heaven.

Jesse enjoyed spending time with family and friends, was always willing to help others in any way he could and was loved by all who knew him. He loved his English Bulldog “Brutus” and spent a lot of his time spoiling him. He was a kind and generous soul, always ensuring that everyone felt loved and appreciated and will be missed by many.

In addition to his Mother, Rhonda L. (Horsley) Lawson, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Wendell Lawson, Nephew Keaton Lawson, Grandparents John A. Book and Ronald and Patricia (June) Horsley and his Aunt Jannelle J. Book.

He is survived by his Father, John O. Book, Chillicothe, Ohio, Brother Justin Book of South Shore, KY. Grandmother Nellie Book of Chillicothe, Ohio, Aunts Lillian Book, Linda Book and Andrea (Gary) Smith, all of Chillicothe, Ohio, Pam (Micah) Lewis of Garrison, KY, Amy (Shane) Simpson of South Shore, KY and Jennifer King of Portsmouth, OH. Step-brothers Jake Lawson of Columbus, OH, Brad Lawson of Lucasville, OH, TJ Lawson of Minford, OH and a step-sister Kaylie Lawson of Portsmouth, OH. Jesse had numerous cousins who were more like brothers and sisters to him that he loved dearly, they loved him just as much and they will miss him tremendously for the rest of their lives.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday December 27, 2025 at The Scioto Valley Church of Christ in Chillicothe, with Jesse's special close friend, Evangelist Harold Rutledge officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends may join the family for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service.
