Janice Newman

Janice Rose Newman, 76, of Chillicothe, received her heavenly invitation to be with Jesus July 6, 2023 at National Church Residences-Chillicothe, following an extended illness.   She was born May 28, 1947 in Vinton Co. to the late Leo and Sadie Ousley Steele.  On August 3, 1964 she married the love of her life Ronald E. Newman, and they shared 53 years of married prior to Ron's passing September 28, 2017.  Left here to cherish her memory are three children, Tammy (Craig) Jones, of Chillicothe and Angie Roberts and Scott Newman of Kingston; her grandchildren, whom she adored, Nick (Shelby), Ben, Alli, Luke Jones, Joshua (Kayleigh) Roberts, Ashtan (Casey) Nicholson, Nate Newman, and McKenna (Anthony) McFadden; great-grandchildren, Brynlea, Jayce, Lilly, Braxton, Paisley, Briggs, and one on the way; three siblings, Grace (Bob) Riffle, Phillip Steele, and Kim (Bruce) Saltsman; a sister-in-law, Regena Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Those awaiting her heavenly arrival were four siblings, Kay Beverly, Nancy Loudermilk, Randy Steele, and Jackie Molihan; and her in-laws, Harve and Jackie Newman.   Mrs. Newman was a devout Christian and helped start, and was active with the Emmaus group at Trinity United Methodist Church, and was an active member of Kington UMC and the Hallsville Community Church.  She enjoyed flower gardening and spending time with family.  She liked to travel, camp and taking cruises.  She was very creative and designed newspaper ads for Sears, was well known for her homemade cards, and her sense of humor.  She took in several children in the Kingston area who needed a safe place to stay and some of her goodies.  As a professional, she was a licensed insurance agent and realtor, owner/operator of the Village Drive Thru in Kingston, and the Newman Insurance agency.  She was QVC's number one customer and loved her margueritas.   Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Rev. Barry Bennett officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt.
