Janice Elaine Evans, 75, of Hillsboro, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, May 4, 2025 at her home.
She was born on February 4, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert E. Balsiger and Lillian M. (Youngblood) Balsiger Smith. Following her father's passing during early childhood, her mother married George W. Smith, who helped raise her and her siblings.
Surviving are her three sons, Joe (Bessie) Powers, Jamie Powers, and Bobby (Toni) Brown; beloved grandchildren, Tiffany Powers, David Powers, Rebecca Powers, Holly Powers, Blake Powers, Jordan Powers-McAdow, Meagan (Evan) Kellough, Avery Brown, and Alexander (Amrita) Brown; her sister, Sharon Morrow; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Billy Brown, and her sister Dorotha Balsiger.
Janice worked for the State of Ohio Department of Welfare in Columbus for several years. She spent most of her life, however, raising her children and tending to the home. Even though her health has decline over the last 15 years, some of her greatest joys in life was spending time visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Forest Grove Cemetery, 8270 Cemetery Pike, Plain City, Ohio 43064.
