It is with the heaviest of hearts that the Bihl family announces the passing of our matriarch, our anchor, and the absolute glue of our family, Janice G. Bihl, who left us peacefully on June 12, 2026.
Janice was, quite simply, a grandmother to the world. She exuded love and kindness in its purest, most unconditional form. She knew no strangers, never turned away a hand in need, and spent her 90 years on this earth selflessly raising and sheltering her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. To say she was a saint would be an understatement; she lived to ensure no one went without, often sacrificing her own comfort so that her family would always know they were fiercely protected and loved.
To those who knew and loved her, Janice was a vibrant soul of beautiful contradictions and simple pleasures. Her favorite season was spring, her favorite color was blue, and she had an intense love for life’s sweeter things. She could often be found lost in her magazines, coloring, enjoying her favorite Korean love stories, or indulging in shopping trips. We will forever smile remembering her specific quirks—her insistence on extra salt on all of her food, and her strict requirement for ice, but only "the good kind."
While members of her family have traveled far and wide and seen the great beauties of the world, we collectively know that there was never a place that felt more like home than being by Janice’s side. She witnessed us at our worst and our best, holding us through every wave of happiness and sadness. To see her smile was a blessing, and to hear the stories of her life was a profound privilege. "I love you" will never be a large enough phrase to define the depth of gratitude we hold for having been able to share our lifetimes with her.
Janice’s physical journey has ended, but the love she poured into five generations will endure for a thousand years and beyond. She will be deeply missed, eternally celebrated, and forever carried in the hearts of the massive, grateful family she built.
The family will receive friends at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, July 4th, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. A burial of Janice's cremated remains will be held on Sunday July 5th at 2:00pm at St. Peter in Chains Cemetery, 2167 Lick Run - Lyra Road, Wheelersburg, Ohio.
