Janet L. Tanner, 73, of Chillicothe, died at 11:25am April 30, 2015, at her home following an extended illness. She was born September 3, 1941, in Pike Co., OH. She is survived by her husband of more than 57 years, Johnnie A. Tanner; daughter and son-in-law Hazel (Herbert Hoosier) Tanner; sons Johnnie L. Tanner and Terry L. Tanner; grandchildren who she adopted Mark (Violet) Tanner, all of Chillicothe; and Alena (Jerry) Smith, Frankfort; grandchildren: Terry Tanner, Jr.; Tyler Tanner; Jadyn Smith; Bryson Smith; Gabriel Tanner; Reed Drum; Jacey Smith; and Gage Tanner; grandchildren by marriage: Brittany Gross; Brandon Raney; Cori Lewis; Christian Cooper; Nico Grier; Andreas Hayes; Audrey Reed; and Jiani Grier; a special son Andrew Hayes and a special daughter Zola Reed; sister Maxine (Walter) Johnson; brother Robert (Dessie) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her biological father Charles H. Anderson; her mother and "Daddy" Hazel (McCoy) and Hayes Johnson; a sister Irene Reed; and a brother Willard McCoy. Janet retired from the Atomic Plant in Piketon where she worked in equipment maintenance. She was a member of Floral Baptist Church. Janet was devoted to her family. She loved to cook and became a "mom and mammaw" to many. Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 6, at Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. J. Troy Gray and Rev. James Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Caldwell Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-8pm at Haller Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church 1 hour prior to the funeral.
