Janet Swain

Janet E. (Ragland) Swain, beloved mother and grandmother, went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday May 6, 2015, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, following an extended illness. She was born March 18, 1949 in Chillicothe to the late Edward R. and Mary E. Lee Ragland. Survivors include her two children, Johnathan (Kristina) Swain, of Blacklick, OH and Jennifer Swain, of Chillicothe; eight grandchildren, Shenice and Shaquonda Swain of Nelsonville, Damian and Dorian Swain, of Circleville, Brooklynn and Avery Clark, of Chillicothe, and Jaiden and Caleb Swain, of Blacklick; three brothers, John (Linda) Ragland, of Washington CH, James (Linda) Ragland, of Jackson, and Jeff (Phyllis) Ragland, of Chillicothe; sister, Jill Ragland, of Chillicothe; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved; a beloved aunt, Jane Ragland; and several friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Joey Ragland, sisters, Judy Ragland Alderman and Catherine Ragland, and grandson, Trey Puckett Swain. Janet devoted her life to serving the Lord, taking care of her family, and inspiring education in everyone she knew. She was a longtime member of Brookside Church, and was a retired school teacher from Southeastern School District, holding many different positions in the district over the years. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Central State University and a Master's Degree in Education from Mount St. Joseph University. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Brookside Church, Rev. Jack Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Caldwell Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 pm Friday at Haller Funeral Home.
