Janet Elaine Lawhorn, 64, of Chillicothe, passed away early Thursday morning, January 28, 2021, at Valley View Care Center in Frankfort, following an extended illness.

She was born May 30, 1956, in Chillicothe, Ohio, daughter of the late Henry B. and Mary M. (Bowman) Lawhorn.

Surviving are her siblings, Suzanne Pinnix, Dale Lawhorn, Sharon (Lee) Davidson, David (Kate) Treadway, Edwin A. Lawhorn, and Stephen V. Lawhorn; 9 nephews, 1 niece, 5 great-nephews, 3 great-nieces, and 4 great-great-nephews; her close friends, Tina Harris, Cathy Cox, and JoEllen Morgan; as well as numerous cousins and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her special cat Lacey.

Janet worked as a receiving clerk at the Chillicothe Walmart for many years before retiring in 2015. She was a member of the Frist Freewill Baptist Church in Chillicothe. In her free time, she loved watching sports, especially watching all of her nieces and nephews play. She also loved researching her family genealogy, reading books, and flowers.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the Valley View Care Center nurses and staff members for the love and care they showed Janet during her time with them, as well as all the hospice staff members.

Private visitation will be held for the family at the Haller Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. A public Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Chillicothe, with Pastor Mitch Salyers officiating. Guests are asked to adhere to all COVID-19 safety protocols by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
