James Taylor

April 18, 1952 — May 24, 2021

James J. Taylor, 69 of Chillicothe died May 24, 2021 at home.

Jim was born on April 18, 1952 in Porterville, Ohio to Rosemary and Hap Taylor who preceded him in death. He was delivered at home by his grandfather, Dr. Jim Miller for whom he was named. Jim lived in Perry County until his family moved to Chillicothe in 1963. He graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1970.

On August 29, 1986, he married the former Jennie Crabtree, who survives.

Also surviving are his children: JT (Kelli) Wells, Josh Taylor, Sara (Evan Binkley) Anderson, and Seth (Kelly Gliha) Anderson; grandchildren: Mackenzie, Jake, Drew, Owen, Cody, and Lennon; brothers: Tim and John Taylor; and many other cherished friends and family members.

Jim retired from the Mars Corporation in 2006. After retirement, he continued to work, first for CARRS Supply and then Good Samaritan Food Pantry. Jim found tremendous enjoyment and fulfillment managing the pantry and reluctantly resigned only when his health prevented him from continuing.

Jim and Jennie shared a great love and supported one another through adventure and hardship. Jim had one biological son, but chose to raise three other children like his own. He took great joy in holding babies. He took pride in the keeping of his house and yard. He endeavored to always be a good neighbor.

Tate, as he was affectionately known by many, was a solid golfer, the best euchre partner, and the person you could always call if you were in a pinch. His sense of humor and quick wit kept everyone laughing during the good times and the bad. It is unlikely his friends and family will run out of stories to tell about him.

Jim's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Emily, Brandy, and the rest of the staff of Adena Hospice for the care they lovingly provided during his final months.

At his request, there will be no public services. Cremation services are under the care of Haller Funeral Home and Crematory. Donations may be made in Jim's name to Adena Hospice or Good Samaritan Food Pantry.
