Mourning the loss of James (Jim) Robert Strausbaugh, a great husband and father whose happy nature, silly jokes, and willingness to always lend a helping hand will never be forgotten. After a brief stay in the COVID unit at Adena Regional Medical Center, where amazing nurses and staff cared for Jim, the family said their final goodbyes in the early morning on January 18, 2021.
Jim was born January 2, 1938, in Chillicothe, Ohio, son of the late Everett and Marcella (Raines) Strausbaugh. On October 25, 1958, he married his beloved wife, Elizabeth A. (Glycadis) Strausbaugh, and together they shared over 62 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, surviving are their children, James (Carlos) Strausbaugh, Jeff (Cherrie) Strausbaugh, Joe (Debbie) Strausbaugh, and Jane Dennewitz; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Megan) Strausbaugh, Alisha Strausbaugh, Samantha (Jared French) Dennewitz, Keith (Lisa Bastian) Dennewitz, and CJ Wright; four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Mallory, Morgan, and one on the way; as well as three siblings, Geraldine, Shirley, and Bill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
James worked as a Pipe Fitter at the Mead Paper Company for many years before retiring in 1998. In his free time, he enjoyed boating and fishing. However, one of his favorite things to do was taking motorcycle trips with his wife around Ohio and occasionally to West Virginia.
In accordance with his wishes, a celebration of life will be shared by immediate family. There will be no public calling hours or services.
