James Stevens

James Leonard Stevens, 83, of Chillicothe, died 3:50 pm, December 24, 2010, at the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following an extended illness. He was born February 13, 1927 in Ross Co. to the late Clyde P. and Neva A. Neff Stevens. On September 5, 1945 he married the former Evelyn McWhorter, who died July 10, 1997. Survivors include his children, David (Jeanne) Stevens, of Chillicothe, Gerald (Connie) Stevens of Londonderry, Rick (Marcheta) Stevens, of Chillicothe and Cathy (Kevin) Miller, of Jeffersonville; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Ray Stevens; a sister Jean Glatting; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, James R. Stevens; a brother, Norman; and two sisters, Hilda Conkel and Midge Ellifrit. Mr. Stevens retired from the Mead Corporation and was a member of Mead Local 731. He was a US Army World War II Veteran and member of the Ross and Pike Co. Senior Citizens. He loved to play and sing music as well as spending time with friends. Funeral services will be held 12:00 pm Wednesday at the Haller Funeral Home. Military graveside services, conducted by the AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard, will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 pm Tuesday at Haller's.
