James Shreve

James N. Shreve, 81, of Richmond Dale, died 4:11 pm, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born the son of Walter N. and Helen Ulderich Shreve-Osburn in Barbour Co. WV. He married Marilyn (O'Hara) Morgan-Shreve on April 21, 1956 in the Methodist parsonage in Richmond Dale. Surviving are his wife, step-son, Jack Morgan Jr., Midwest City, OK; son Donald (Carol Eplin) Shreve, Grey Bull, WY; daughter, Jynni Shreve, Gainsville, GA; sisters, Linda Kitchen, Chillicothe, Patricia Reger, Buckhannon, WV, Jane (Thomas) Deadrick, Fairmont, WV; brothers, Paul (Evelyn) and Thomas (Donna) Shreve, both of Chillicothe; Leslie (Peg) Shreve, Buckhannon, WV, and Joseph (Wanda) Osburn, Christianburg, VA; sisters-in-law, Donna O'Hara, Winter Haven, FL, and Jean Mahaney, Frankfort. He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Terry R. Shreve (Christina), step-mother, S. Doraine (Weekly) Shreve, and step-father, C.H. Osburn. He leaves behind granddaughters, Jaymalee Bailey, Gainsville, GA, Danielle Parrish (Kevin), Vienna, WV, and Cara Morgan, Parkersburg, WV; a grandson, Shane Morgan, of Parkersburg, WV; Great-Grandchildren, Cheyenne and Riley, New Vienna, WV, Michael, Parkersburg, WV; Special Grandchildren, Scott and Kelli Clary, and children, Kylee and Bryson, Chillicothe, Sarah Eplin and children, Leylah and Julian, Gallipolis, Jon Eplin (Kim), Columbus. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 through 1960, including overseas service in Korea and Japan. Past and present memberships, Delta 209 Mason of McArthur, Ross County Shrine Club Aladdin Shrine Temple, Eagles, Elks, American Legion, NRA, Kentucky Colonels, Nays Chapel Methodist Church, Buckhannon, WV. Jim was the Vice President/Resident Manager of Southern Silica, Inc. near Richmond Dale. He supported the local VFD, and donated materials, equipment, and his personal time on many Jefferson Twp. Projects. He also assisted with Little League, Boy Scouts, and served as the first president of the Southeastern Booster Club. Jim's special message to follow: Thank you to my care givers, my wife Marilyn, Carol Eplin, sister Linda, brother Tom and all those helping us during this trying times. Thanks also, to the staff and crew of Adena Hospice. Your loving quality of care, aid, and assistance brought a bright light of joy and peace to us. This program is a godsend for anyone requiring their service. Finally, a loving thank you to my business associate and personal friend Jesse Clary; I know I can rely on you to the very end and beyond. I'll be waiting for your new batch of trucking tales. To my children – walk tall, work hard, and I'll see you again someday. Friends and family may call from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Saturday, April 27 at the Haller Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson Twp. Fire Dept. or the Ross Co. Humane Society.
