James "Jug" Daniel Patterson, 68, of Chillicothe, passed away Monday morning, October 10, 2016, at his home, following an extended illness. He was born in Athens, Ohio, on August 2, 1948, to the late Charles Daniel and Marcella (Tate) Patterson. Surviving is his son, James Scott (Lindsay) Patterson, of Piketon; his step-daughter, Diana (Ben) Howard, of Chillicothe; his grandchildren, Bryce Patterson, Whitney, Tyler, and Madison Howard; as well as numerous special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Tate. Jug was a Vietnam War era veteran, serving in the United States Navy for nearly 4 years. He received his Bachelors Degree in college, and went on to work as a Biomedical Engineer for many years. His true passion however, was playing music in his various bands over the years. He also enjoyed spending time with his Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. In keeping with his wishes, cremation services will be performed, and there will be no public calling hours. A military graveside service conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Greenlawn Cemetery.
