James Otto

James E. Otto, 80, died at 7:30pm July 8, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born March 27, 1934, in Dixon, IL, to the late Harry G. and Alice (Beede) Otto. On October 4, 1958, he married the former Charlotte M. Yurick, who survives. Also surviving are his son Steven James Otto, of Chillicothe; daughter and son-in-law Connie M. (Gary A.) Calabrese, of Elyria, OH; grandchildren Samantha N. Calabrese; and Corey J. Calabrese, both of Elyria; a great-granddaughter Olivia Isabella Calabrese; a brother Richard Otto, of Amboy, IL; sisters Alice Bowers, Dixon, IL; and Olive Bernardin, Rochelle, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his beloved family pet "Matilda." He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Charles Otto, Amboy, IL; and a sister Francis M. Pitzer, Dixon, IL. Jim worked for 43 years with the F.W. Woolworth Co., retiring in 1996 as a district manager. He served his country in the US Army. At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service observed. Arrangements are under the direction of Haller Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Central Ohio Region, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, OH 43017.
