James Howard Mitchell, 77, of Chillicothe, passed away at home early Sunday morning, April 16, 2023, following an extended illness.
He was born October 15, 1945 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, son of the late Howard R. and Mary Maxine (Reynolds) Mitchell. On August 31, 1974, he married his beloved wife, Bethany A. (Hatfield) Mitchell, and together they shared nearly 49 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, James Russell Mitchell; his daughter, Melissa (Tom) Posey; two grandchildren, Courtney Posey, and Josh (Cheyenne) Posey; two great-grandsons, Jerryn Posey and Parker Posey; his sister, Ramona Doyle; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Dale Mitchell and Jack Mitchell.
In accordance with his wishes, private graveside services at Huntington Memorial Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
